Flood Warning

While some areas are more prone to flooding than others, the establishment of early warning systems near every major river or water body provides important information that helps protect property and lives. Of course, the most effective flood warning systems go beyond the installation of sensors and telemetry equipment. They are selected and maintained by qualified personnel and use carefully designed procedures to predict floods, including timing and severity.

An effective flood warning system should be based on the regular recording of local precipitation, water level and runoff data. This can be done by routine monitoring, through local visits of the measuring points. However, a real-time monitoring system with telemetry can make data collection much easier - and in many cases more cost-effective. At the same time, such solutions enable the fastest possible response through local emergency authorities in the case of a flood event.

OTT water level sensors and continuous flow sensors, paired with telemetry technology and OTT Hydrosystems are able to measure, collect, and transmit water level and velocity data in real-time to determine the peak level or flow during flood events, and alert local water and emergency authorities if a certain threshold is breached.
